Ozark Slow Food is…

celebrating and connecting local people with local food and local farmers

30 years ago in Italy, the slow food movement emerged. Since it’s beginning the movement has grown, changed, and evolved into what it is now. The slow food movement has since reached Northwest Arkansas. In 2006, our team founded Ozark Slow Food.

At Ozark Slow Food, our mission is to provide locally sourced and healthy food options in Northwest Arkansas. We are a subgroup of Slow Food USA, a non-profit organization in Fayetteville, AR that works with the Northwest Arkansas community to improve access to good and clean food. Our team at Ozark Slow Food hosts events, provides resources, and promotes the slow food movement.

As a subgroup of Slow Food USA, we’re part of a network of over 150 chapters with more than 6,000 members and growing. When you become a member of Ozark Slow Food in Northwest Arkansas, you get all the resources of our ever-changing network. We’re always welcoming new members and new ideas!

We encourage involvement from every member of the community. If it’s the farmer we encourage them to grow sustainable crops, treat their animals well, and operate their farms in an environmentally friendly manner. If it’s the consumer we encourage them to be aware, seek out local and sustainable food choices. Our team at Ozark Slow Food cares about the Northwest Arkansas community. We strive toward a more aware, sensible, and environmentally responsible NWA.

Our team at Ozark Slow Food is composed entirely of extremely passionate volunteers. Every dollar donated goes towards our mission and awareness. One of the easiest ways to support our mission and the slow food movement is to donate a monetary gift. We use donations to raise awareness, print our food guide, and provide micro-grants to deserving local farmers and producers. All donations made are tax-deductible.
